Will his Energy Become more Calmed and Relax after being Neutered?

2301

Here is a Question fromΒ Daryl Ogalino : Will his energy become more calmed and relax after being neutered?

β€œMy 6 Month BT, is pretty high energy which is one of the traits of a BT for sure! His energy is so much that it seems like he’s on Speed or xtacy Lol! He’s getting neutered on Tuesday. Will his energy become more calmed and relax after being neutered? Or will he still have the same energy as a little kid at the candy store? His energy is pure fun but sometimes he can get toooo carried away lol! I love him so much! Thanks for your guys’ input!”

Here’s a little picture of little dude “TUX” :

Tux the boston terrier is getting neutered

My BTs are 5.5 and 6 years old- neutering them didn’t slow them down at all.

Every Boston owner I have ever talked to has said the same thing. The energy level is like a tazmanian devel. The long walks do help tire them out, but only for a few hours. Then it’s back to the same crazy dog. Bishop is 8 years old and is showing no signs of slowing down. Truthfully, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I personally did not have him neutered, but he had weekly play date with the Boston down the street who was neutered. I saw absolutely no difference in their behavior. But I couldn’t bring myself to… Read more »

Taylor Bentley … Oh so don’t pick him up and shake him while he’s sleeping and squeal about how cute he is?

BT’s are high energy to a certain degree, and then they are not. If yours is “too much” sometimes you need to take a step back and look at your own actions. Are you moving quickly, flapping your hands, shaking your fingers, shaking toys in his face, talking in a high squeaky voice, always looking to get your BT’s attention, etc? All of this is excitement movements that will keep your BT on high alert. They read your movements, noise and attention as wanting to play and are responding in kind. Yes, mine have always been more high energy as… Read more »

Our BTs are 8 and 9. We walk for 45 minutes every morning at 5am. Then playtime in the park or backyard for a half hour at night. They also play together. Busy dogs. A tired dog is a good dog. The small frozen water bottles in the back pack works for us too!

Sadly mine are still crazy after being fixed!

No it won’t change ,i have five .i think it depends on owner and environment their in.i have fenced in yard they can run in ,but only let them out few minutes at a time due to heat .all five of mine are sleeping .and do most of the day ,in evening they come alive and play for a few hours then back to sleep .i really don’t have hyper issues with mine ?

I just started using a back pack on mine. πŸ™‚ I put two SMALL frozen water bottles in it, one on each side. Keeps her cool and wears her out when we go for walks. πŸ™‚

3 seemed to be the age mine slowed down but he’s still very playful at 10!

High energy is part of the breed. Some are less energetic but spaying/neutering isn’t going to change it.

My little girl was desexed at 8 weeks old. Very unusual to do that so young, but because her markings are bad they didn’t want me breeding her. She was a lunatic till about 2 years old. She is still very hypo at 6 years old, but at least I can calm her down at times now
